Veterinarian

Private Practice

June 1985 - July 1989

During my 4 years in private practice I grew a cat clientele as these owners realized my passion for giving their cats the best care possible.

Veterinary Medical Officer

July 1993 - July 2019

For 26 years, my career as a USDA Animal Care veterinarian was dedicated to improving the lives of animals in exhibits, breeder settings, and research.

Cat Consultant

Ongoing

From childhood, I've had a strong interest in cat behavior.  In private practice I helped clients with cat behavior issues.  My last career involved observing animals and their behaviors, while finding ways to resolve unwanted behaviors.  Currently I am continuing training in cat consulting.

Cozy Cats at Home

Your Cat's Second Best Friend

On February 12, 2024 we said good bye to our 19 year old Alexis.

On April 17 we brought home 7 week old siblings, Ziva and Isabel.

This is the first time I've had the joy of raising two cats who are bonded to each other.   We are teaching them to be bold traveling cats!

          TESTIMONIALS

Lisa is amazing! She's taken care of my fur-babies for years, loving on them as if they were her own.  She goes above and beyond basic needs by engaging them in play, brushing them, and even teaching them tricks.  She also got my guy medical care when he was sick, spending the night with him.  My travel anxiety is greatly reduced knowing that my cat is at home in Lisa's loving care!

Testimonials

Scooter Pedro with bird.jpg

"Lisa did a terrific job caring for our boys while we were on vacation. I was nervous since they haven’t been alone overnight, but Lisa sent texts and pictures twice daily and also kept copious notes of her visits. She’s made useful suggestions about toys and litter aids. I’m pretty sure my boys miss her, she spent a lot of time with them. I highly recommend her services, we are picky about who cares for our cats."

I just enjoyed our playtimes!

Our Mom said "Thank you for your thoughtful
attentive care of Bogey & Brando!"

My husband and I recently had a family emergency that required travel to the West Coast. Travel during a pandemic is hard enough, but our house full of cats and yard full of hens added another huge hurdle to the travel. We bought a small caravan, which solved the airport problem, but we still had a pet problem to solve. Being military transplants to the area we don't have a huge support circle or family in the area and with the length of time that we planned to be out of the area we needed big help fast. With a quick google search we found Lisa (Cozy Cats at Home). Lisa turned out to be a superhero pet sitter. Lisa sent daily pet updates and videos/pictures of playtime with our fur babies. She took the best care of our critters and even brought in the mail, letting us travel with blissful peace of mind. Her veterinarian and cat behavior experience, as well as her sincere love of animals, make her a perfect choice. Lisa is worth every penny and more. We will certainly use her pet sitting services again. Thank you Lisa!

From the Mom of 2019 International star Pip the Scottish Fold and his sidekick Bertie, "I enthusiastically recommend CozyCatsAtHome and Lisa.  She has taken care of my boys on several occasions over the last few months, and has done a masterful job.  One of my cats needs daily pills and puffing on an Aerocat.  Lisa patiently worked with him to make the experience comfortable for them both.  She played with the cats, cuddled, brushed, and played with them, and let me know how they were doing with regular updates and photos.  What a relief for a worrier cat mom to know her furkids are in such wonderful hands.  Thank you, Lisa!

Cats at Home Cozy Policies and Procedures

An in person Meet and Greet Consultation is required before a sitting need.  This should be scheduled a minimum of 1 – 2 weeks before your vacation.  Pets’ personalities and sitting needs will be discussed, and the Pet Sitting Contract will be completed.

Daily care and wellness visits are required.  A pet sit visit is required every 24 hours regardless of pet type.  No every few days sits.   This is the professional industry standard.  Daily visits are important to ensure the health and welfare of your pets.  A cat can urinary block and require emergency care to prevent severe illness or death within a day.   The sitter has the discretion and authority to make additional visits as deemed necessary for your pets’ welfare.

If pet sitter determines your pet is ill or injured, and you cannot be immediately reached, sitter will take your pet to your veterinarian or to the emergency veterinary hospital.  It is advised you let your veterinarian know that Cozy Cats at Home is your pet sitter.

No pets will be ignored during visits – all animals in house will be under sitter’s care.   There is not an extra charge for additional pets.

There will be no guaranteed visit times.  Twice daily visits required for medical needs will be scheduled as far apart as possible dependent upon other pet sit visits.

Pet sitting duties are not to be shared except under preapproved circumstances.  Cozy Cats at Home is committed to offering an exceptional level of pet care, and we have found this cannot be accomplished when pet care responsibilities are shared with others outside of Cozy Cats.  This helps prevent inconsistent care and miscommunications.    If pet sit visits are shared, owner waives all liability for damage to the home or issues with the pets.

Reservations can be made up to a year ahead.  Sitter’s availability dates will be provided clients on a regular basis.   You are encouraged to schedule around those dates as a back up sitter may or may not be available.   There is no charge for changing or canceling dates.   If you make a “last minute” reservation, Cozy Cats at Home may or may not be able to accommodate you.

Sitter will text client the day before the start of the sitting visits.  If you do not hear from the sitter, please notify sitter by phone, text, or email to ensure dates are correct.

Sitter will plan on continuing care of animals until notice from client of return.   Please text or call when you have returned.

In cases of emergency (severe weather or incapacitation of sitter), all reasonable attempts will be made to visit your pet, and a back up sitter will be used when available.  If you have a neighbor who can step up in case of emergency, make sure that person’s contact information is provided to sitter.

Payment in form of check or cash expected when services rendered.  Late fee of 25% added after 14 days.  Returned check fee of $100.  An invoice will be mailed a week or so in advance.  Checks are to be made out to Cozy Cats at Home.
